I find the grey heron a fascinating bird, it looks quite prehistoric but is so graceful and elegant with beautiful plumage. I enjoy painting reeds and birds at the waters edge and herons lend themselves beautifully, they are masters of stalking, remaining frozen in position until they strike. I love the juxtaposition of the purples and greens and feel this makes a harmonious painting.
