Puffin Paradise was the first semi-abstract painting that Alison created in 1999. It was painted in gouache, over a realistic watercolour of puffins. The painting won first prize in the abstract/experimental category of The Artist magazine 2000 celebration. The painting sold in 2001 at The Wildlife Art Society annual exhibition in Bristol.
